Whether your child would benefit from  enrichment, reinforcement, or test preparation, each learner’s tutoring journey begins with a comprehensive background interview and assessment. During this stage, parents and classroom teachers provide academic and relevant personal background information and discuss tutoring goals. It is also critical to confer with the learners themselves, in order for each child to develop an intrinsic investment in the process. Through a combination of interviews and formal assessments, a unique learning plan with individualized goals is created. 

No two children learn in the same way. A critical element of the Laura Giske Tutoring process is determining what instructional methodology will best reach the hearts and minds of each learner. Whether your child learns best via direct instruction or through experiential inquiry, LG Tutoring will utilize precise instructional techniques that allow your child to best understand content and reach their goals.​
Educating a child is a community endeavor. LG Tutoring knows that parents  are just as invested in their child’s education as their child. Therefore, open communication between families and tutors is not only welcomed, but encouraged. Since learning is neither stagnant nor linear, and because goals frequently change, LG Tutoring develops and maintains a direct relationship with classroom teachers and provides parents with consistent
​progress updates.
Lessons and activities are tailored towards each learner’s interests and passions. Whenever possible, LG Tutoring utilizes games and activities as a vehicle for repeated practice and engaging instruction. Moreover, it is our goal to get to know each learner on a personal level so that we can build a genuine relationship with one another. In doing so, tutoring becomes a welcome “fun” after-school activity.
